Piracetam (often sold as “Nootropil”) is a racetam nootropic (“smart drug”), which is mainly used to counteract desensitization and tolerance caused by acetylcholine boosting lucid dream supplements. However, some people use it for cognitive enhancement as well as for improving memory and learning.
Piracetam reduces desensitization of acetylcholine receptors, making acetylcholine to be used up more efficiently and may even increase acetylcholine receptor density. This property is valuable to counteract the effects of galantamine and choline which may last more time than you want them too. If not using Piracetam, galantamine can only be used once every 4-7 days.
Piracetam also counteract the desensitization of the nicotinic receptors so may be valuable for people who use nicotine as a lucid dream supplement. If not using Piracetam, nicotine can only be used once a week.
Piracetam’s onset of action is 15-35 minutes. Its duration of action is 3-6 hours.
It is best to not have any Piracetam in your system at the time of lucid dream attempt. After using Piracetam, wait about 36 hours before practicing lucid dreaming as the supplement may inhibit dreaming, dream recall, and lucid dreaming.
In fact, Piracetam may help individuals suffering from too much dreaming, nightmares, and unwanted vivid dreams.
You can read about Piracetam’s effects on Erowid.org. Here are a few examples:
After about an hour, it felt like the curtain had been lifted on a wide-screen high-definition world. Everything seemed clearer, fresher, and for the first time in months, I did not feel like I had marshmallows stuffed in my cranium. The effects lasted several hours.
I do not feel like a genius because I take this drug. I do however, feel wonderfully normal. I can read a little better in a noisy environment. I can lose myself in my work. I can pay attention to someone speaking while having internal thoughts at the same time. I can make an attempt at remembering things that have slipped my mind, and have them surface quickly. These are all things that I have not been able to do very well in past years because of my drug use.
I had heard vaporizing piracetam is an interesting experience, so I decided to give it a try. I’d already taken 5g of Choline bitartate earlier, so my brain would have enough available choline. I set my vaporizer at 350F and added 5g of piracetam. I had heard vaporizing piracetam is an interesting experience, so I decided to give it a try. How to take Piracetam?
Do not take Piracetam without consulting with your doctor first.
The maximum recommended dose is 2,400-4,800 mg per day. Take the supplement after waking up from a galantamine-, choline-, or nicotine-induced lucid dream attempt. Then, wait 30 hours before trying to lucid dream again.
When used as a smart drug, it may take up to 6 weeks of daily dosing before full effects are apparent.
As the last experience in the effects chapter above suggests, Piracetam can also be inhaled using a vaporizer.
It is not toxic and usually causes no significant side effects.
Piracetam is not illegal to possess and consume in the US, although it may not permitted to be sold as a dietary supplement. In some countries it may require a prescription to purchase, notably Australia, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Spain, and United Kingdom.
